In
the western highlands of Bali is the serene mountain
area of Bedugul where vegetables, fruits
and flowers thrive in the alpine climate. The
colorful little market offers a wide selection
of produce including exotic strawberries. Bedugul,
a very popular tourist spot, a center of flowers
with quite peaceful takes of Beratan, Buyan and
Tamblingan is worthwhile to visit. It is about
66 kilometers driving from Ngurah Rai International
Airport. The area has the last remaining tropical
forest on the island. The tranquil botanical gardens
of Kebun Raya Eka Karya Bedugul are home to 650
species of trees and a unique collection of terns
and orchids. Less than an hour of Bangli lies
the tranquil crater lake of Mount Batur and the
inpressive temple gates of Pura Ulun Danu, one
of the two major subak (irrigation society) temples
on the island.
